Desert Classic Concours d'Elegance 2013, Petersen Museum
Desert Classic Concours d'Elegance, Feb 24 2013 - Special Car Store met up with the knowledgeable folks from the Petersen Automotive Museum and followed their two classic entries through the day in the life of the Concours:
1929 Ruxton Model C Roadster
1923 Mercedes Targa Florio
Introduced by Christine Reed, curator Leslie Kendall described the advanced features and regales for the era of each car. While discussing the Ruxton, the Desert Concours judging team surrounded the brilliant beauty in final review before selecting the show award winners.
Christine's father Stewart Reed happened to be one of the honorary judges and offered a complementary take on what a design expert looks for in scoring a show car. Rather than making a technical measurement of perfection, the designing mind looks at the evolution of the form and reimagines what the creator was attempting to do.
Both Petersen cars won best in class.
