Beverly Hills CA, June 19 2016 - If your father has a hankering for fancy automobiles (and which one doesn't?) there is at least one annual event in Southern California made just for him. That would be your Rodeo Drive Concours d'Elegance in Beverly Hills. Yes, those hills. Where people with really nice cars live. It's never much of a surprise to see any kind of classic or exotic car driving around this part of Los Angeles. It's so squeaky clean and secure; wide roads on the flats and nary a pothole in sight. Cruise down Rodeo Drive any day of the year and you'd be amazed how many six figure cars you can park next to. But not Father's Day - no parking on this stretch for you this day, but you will be more than amazed at what lines the main 100-400 block boulevard.

It seems in Beverly Hills, you have to start from the top down - including auto dealer sponsor bookends like Beverly Hills Porsche, Beverly Hills Ferrari and The Auto Gallery. Gooding & Company Auctions always camps out in the middle; joined next block by Auctions America with a taster's choice of colorful beauties destined for new owners at Pebble Beach. At over 90 degrees, the weather was almost too good but the tops came down and the doors came up. We think the organizers worked a little harder this year to get a fresh crop of cars that maybe we haven't seen before. From the perfect lines of Ferraris, McLarens and Lambos to the Beverly Hillbilly Hotrod - there was one of everything you liked and nothing you wouldn't own if you could. One notable element missing - motorcycles. We miss Vinnie Mandzak! In a better world, he would have had the finest two-wheelers alongside the four-wheelers. Despite that and the heat wave, a large flock of enthusiasts got their overdose of vitamin Car.
For show hosts, RCd'E always starts at the top for talent. ABC-7 automan Dave Kunz is practically the honorary front man introducing the proceeding and awards show, but this year he was joined on stage by another great personality. Mike Brewer recently blew into town with his long running and trusted show Wheeler Dealers. It hasn't taken him long a all to find a place in the front of the line of everything SoCalCar. They make a great couple - I mean pair of guys that are both smart and entertaining. Both of them.
So... if you have a father, think of him - think of Rodeo Drive end of spring next year. If you are a father and haven't got that call to go, just ask. You owe it to yourself.
