Rodeo Drive Concours Preview

Hollywood Reporter, June 11 2013 - The first Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance started with Sharon Stone and Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo celebrating the launch of the then-brand-new Ferrari 348 Spider. Stone and di Montezemolo auctioned off the first model for more than $1 million – and in typical Hollywood fashion, the money went to charity. In 1994 the event was moved to Father’s Day, and a Rodeo Drive tradition was born. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/rodeo-drive-concours-d-elegance-56...

Ghia Streamline X "Gilda" - Petersen Automotive Museum

Photos by Randy Berg: Ghia Streamline X "Gilda" Scene@ Petersen Automotive Museum - An exercise in extreme styling, the Streamline X was built by the Italian coachbuilder Ghia to a design by aerodynamicist Giovanni Savonuzzi, a mathematician with a keen interest in jet age American design themes. To maximize the aerodynamic cleanliness of the car's overall shape, its contours were reportedly finalized in the wind tunnel at the Politecnico d Torino. The car was considered so striking when it was introduced that it was soon nicknamed "Gilda", the character portrayed by legendary screen siren Rita Hayworth in the 1946 film noir classic of the same name. Although the Streamline X was built without the gas turbine engine that it was designed to accommodate, the car was recently fitted with such a power unit by the current owner so that its potential as an education tool could be more fully realized.
