Russo and Steele's Newport Beach Auction Event: Cars to watch for

Scottsdale AZ, Jun 11 2014 - For Enthusiasts -- By Enthusiasts. ™ At Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auctions, it’s far more than a tagline. It’s a lifestyle. We are gearing up to deliver that passion to Southern California for our second annual Newport Beach auction at the Newport Beach Dunes Waterfront Resort next week from Wednesday June 18 through Saturday June 21. In addition to our thrilling, high-octane auction experience and excellent variety of collector automobiles covering the spectrum from timeless classics to modern ‘supercars,’ a select group of intriguing automobiles have peaked our attention, and we feel they are a few of many cars to watch at the 2014 Newport Beach Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Auction.

1968 Porsche-911S at Russo and Steele

1968 Porsche 911 S – Highly rare in the USA with none officially imported for 1968, the top-specification, high-performance 911 ‘S’ has always been the object of desire for committed driving enthusiasts. The ‘S’ also formed the basis for Porsche’s eventual domination of international-level GT racing, a tradition that continues today. Marking the final production year for the unadulterated first-series Porsche 911 with the original short-wheelbase chassis, this expertly restored, matching numbers Polo Red 911 S from 1968 is equipped with a rare factory sunroof and accompanied by documents including a copy of the factory ‘Kardex’ production record and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity.

1963 Jaguar XKE at Russo and Steele

1963 Jaguar E-Type ‘Series I’ Roadster – As the ultimate evolution of Jaguar’s ‘XK’ series that began with the XK120 in 1948, the brilliant XKE, alternatively known as the ‘E-Type,’ totally redefined the sports-car concept from its 1961 Geneva debut. While produced over three distinct series through 1974, the early ‘Series I’ models remain the most desirable of all with their sheer beauty, purity of line, and unique features including sleekly covered headlamps and aircraft-style toggle switchgear. This outstanding example was formerly owned by a member of the Le Mans-winning Ecurie Ecosse racing team and benefits handsomely from restoration performed by Pebble Beach award-winning Classic Vision Restoration of Burbank, California.

Russo and Steele Aston Martin-V8 Vantage

1982 Aston Martin V8 Vantage “Oscar India” – Introduced in 1977, the 425-horsepower Aston Martin V8 Vantage is renowned as ‘Britain’s first supercar.’ The particularly desirable and rare “Oscar India” variant launched in 1978 brought careful aerodynamic updates unleashing the Vantage’s full potential. This Series 4 example from 1982 is one of the 172 built and one of approximately four delivered new to Canada. Unlike its US-delivery counterparts bearing only the Vantage cosmetic features, this is an original 425-hp example. Famed oilman Jack Pierce, founder of Ranger Oil and one of the last “wildcatters,” bought it new. Moved to California in 1996 and fastidiously maintained, it is now offered from his family’s care and marks an exceptional and highly-anticipated find.

1959 Cadillac-Series 62 Russo and Steele

1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible – An unqualified icon from the Harley Earl and Bill Mitchell GM design era, the ’59 Cadillac and its flamboyant “jet age” styling cues continue to amaze all onlookers, wonderfully representing the exuberance and promise of late-1950s America. Featuring a powerful rebuilt 390 cubic-inch V-8 engine to match its commanding presence, this restored Series 62 Convertible is simply engaging throughout and ready to deliver an incomparable open-air experience, capturing attention and sparking conversations everywhere it goes!

Renowned for our exceptional lifestyle events in conjunction with our high-energy auction experiences, we are especially pleased to announce that our Newport Beach sale will kick off with a Charity Gala in support of CHOC Children’s Hospital on June 18 beginning at 6:00 P.M. Tickets for this wonderful event are available for $150 and we sincerely look forward to seeing you there to support this wonderful cause!
